Reviews

Over the past few months, I have asked professionals and other women to read my chapters. Here is what a few of them have said about Notes from the Margins.

Here is a recent review by A. Meyers

I was able to read your book Alane. I started at work, and realized (after about the third time I cried) it was not a “work” book. I finished up a couple of weeks ago and it was such an encouragement to me. I was able to talk to some people about it and encourage them about the lessons you learned (and lessons I was taught through it)

Independent Review from Springs Publishing Group:

Written by Alane Pearce, Notes from the Margins is a heartfelt account of the author’s journey through sorrow, pain and suffering. Alane Pearce shares her story, down to the most intimate details, of how she dealt with the loss of her newborn son, numerous life-saving surgeries, and seven miscarriages. She takes the reader through every emotion that she felt; from instances of deep sorrow to moments of great joy. Truly this book is a beautiful masterpiece painted with every hue from the full gamut of human emotion.

Poignant scripture is interlaced throughout each step of her journey. The effect is never “preachy,” each biblical reference has profound meaning and close ties to the author’s own personal experiences. The scripture mentioned throughout the book is not presented as merely a “quick fix” to the problems of life, but rather it is used to demonstrate the steadfast character of God and the transformative power of His Word as it is questioned, doubted, feared, and ultimately, loved.

Alane Pearce weaves meaning into each trial that she faced. Yes, she is now looking back in hindsight, but she is not attempting to nullify or downplay her suffering, rather she is embracing the reality of her experiences and letting God get the glory for the work that He did in her through the times of sorrow. Her message is one of encouragement, inspiration, humility and joy. Beautifully written and incredibly moving. Anyone struggling with life’s tough questions: Why me? Where is God? Is there hope? How can I move on? will find hope in this book. This book will touch those who have ever experienced loss, suffered from grief or wondered where God was in the midst of trial.

Kimberly Hessler Certified Career Transition and Job Search Coach I have cried the entire way through this. It is so profound!!!!! God is speaking through you. We must ramp up Wings for Women and get this message out!!! I was crying from my own unresolved grief; the loss of our own baby through a miscarriage and not feeling understood or knowing where to turn in that time of grief. The loss of my dad and my mothers grief and not having a clue how to help her, the loss of our extended family being a family because of all of the unresolved issues around our childhood, my dads Bible with all of his notes in it, emotion after emotion came flooding to the surface and there HE was God in the midst of it all!!!  I am convinced that God has a message to deliver through you and has brought us together for His purpose.

Chris F. I really enjoyed your story and did not stop reading last night. Normally, I have no problem putting book down or a story. But your story truly held my interest and kept me thinking. Very touching and something we can all relate to.

Denise R. I want to say thank you, but in a way I don’t because this book hit me deeply. God was speaking to me through the pages and is starting to heal my pain.
